Biography

Iain Ferguson graduated from Dundee University as top student with honours. After qualifying as a solicitor he called to the Bar in 1987 and became a QC in 2000. He has extensive experience of civil and commercial litigation. He was Standing Junior Counsel to the MOD (Army) for a number of years and later Standing Junior Counsel for planning. He has also acted as an Advocate Depute, ad hoc.

His principal area of work is professional liability, including clinical liability/negligence. Iain is ranked Band 1 in Chambers UK for both professional and clinical negligence. His other areas of legal interest lie in property and commercial property, and planning.

Iain has been a member of the Faculty of Advocates Complaints Committee for a number of years and has chaired hearings of that committee. From April 2015 to 2018 he was Deputy Chairman of the Appeals Tribunal of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
