Fergus Thomson is instructed in a full range of civil and commercial matters, and has acted for clients including corporate entities, financial services institutions, professional services firms and public sector bodies.

He has over 9 years' contentious advisory experience. He returned to the Scottish Bar in January 2015, having previously been in practice there for over 5 years. Between 2012 and 2014 he undertook contentious work as a Legal Director with DLA Piper, the global law firm. In addition, his advice in dispute resolution is informed by a thorough understanding of "business as usual" work, having previously worked as a transactional lawyer with Dundas & Wilson (now CMS) and Maclay, Murray & Spens and in-house in financial services. He is an affiliate member of the Institute of Risk Management.
